NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tyler Beede struck out a career-high 14 and Vanderbilt used a seven-run sixth inning to blow past Xavier 11-0 in Friday's lightning-delayed Nashville regional.

Beede, a junior right-hander who's expected to be a top pick in next week's major league draft, allowed three hits and walked one in eight innings for the Commodores (42-18). Vanderbilt will play Oregon on Saturday.

Both teams endured a nearly two-hour delay before the first pitch because of inclement weather.

Vanderbilt opened up a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth against Xavier (29-28). Musketeers starter Vinny Nittoli allowed John Norwood's RBI single, jumpstarting the Commodores' big inning. Vanderbilt used 12 batters against three pitchers, and reliever Eric Stiene gave up a run on a balk before he even threw a pitch.

Xavier plays Clemson in an elimination game Saturday.
