Beggs police chief given deferred sentence in domestic assault

TAHLEQUAH — The Beggs police chief pleaded no contest to domestic abuse charges and was sentenced to a five-year deferred sentence, court officials said Tuesday.

Wesley Fish entered the plea on Monday in Cherokee County District Court in Tahlequah to a reduced misdemeanor charge of domestic assault and battery and felonious pointing a firearm.

He was accused of putting a loaded handgun to his wife’s head after the two got in an argument, said Tony Evans, assistant district attorney.
