Award-winning actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” will serve as ambassador to the Belk brand in 2014, appearing in advertising, making special appearances and promoting the company via social media.
The year of celebration — called Modern. Southern. Music. — will pay homage to the roots of music as well as today’s hottest hits in and from the south. It’s a play on Belk’s tag line, Modern. Southern. Style. Panettiere is a key player in the celebration.
Belk is the nation’s largest family owned and operated department store company with 301 Belk stores located in 16 Southern states, including Oklahoma.
“In the South, music is the way we breathe life into our stories,” says Kathryn Bufano, Belk president and chief merchandising officer. “It’s fundamental to the Southern lifestyle, and has a tremendous influence on fashion.”
Another key piece of the Modern. Southern. Music. celebration will be two sweepstakes in 2014. The first will offer brides and grooms-to-be the chance to win a performance by Grammy-winning singer songwriter Edwin McCain at their wedding. A second sweepstakes will offer the chance to win an all-expenses paid VIP trip for four to a concert by the winner’s favorite artist, anywhere in the continental United States. Information will be on belk.com as it becomes available.
Founded in 1888 by William Henry Belk in Monroe, N.C., the company is in the third generation of Belk family leadership and has been committed to community involvement since its inception. Each year, Belk gives a portion of its pretax income back to the communities it serves.
In Oklahoma, Belk stores are in Stillwater, Owasso and Tulsa.
