Berry Tramel: Cheers & Jeers

Oklahoman Published: July 23, 2009
→ To Tom Watson’s deportment at the British Open. Watson was all class 21 years ago at Oak Tree during the PGA, and it appears that hasn’t changed. There were big winners all around at Turnberry: the splendid course, Stewart Cink, golf fans and the great Watson himself, for a thrill ride the likes of which we’ve never seen.

→To OU’s women’s basketball games against Tennessee and Connecticut. Good to see a program that doesn’t sweat over the quality of opponents.

→To ESPN’s cancellation of Mike Gundy on the Mike & Mike radio show. Greenberg and Golic are ESPN’s best personalities; it would have been fun to hear Gundy play along.

→To ex-OU quarterback Jamelle Holieway, arrested again, this time on a shoplifting charge in McAlester. Sad to see a storied athlete who can’t get his life on track.
