Case remains activeIt’s been more than three months since Saunders, of Bethany, was found dismembered in a duffel bag behind a grocery store at NW 23 and Rockwell, but Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole said the case remains active. “This investigation is still very much ongoing,” Cole said. “We have one of our three investigators working on it full time. We still get tips and we’re still developing information on this case. “It just keeps getting bigger and bigger.” Jimmy Lee Massey, 33, has been connected to the case since a confidential witness told investigators she was kidnapped by Massey and forced to watch the slaying of Saunders. Massey was named in a murder warrant in the case, but he has not been charged. He has also been implicated in drug- and human-trafficking rings. Cole didn’t identify any further suspects in the case, saying investigators were waiting on tests to come back after the search of Knight’s residence.
