BETHANY — Authorities in Bethany say a woman and her infant who were attacked by a man posing as a delivery driver were saved by the family dog.

Police say the man was holding a package and when the woman opened the door, the man sprayed mother and baby with pepper spray.

A local television station reports the family dog, Louie, bolted toward the man when the woman screamed.

Louie chased the intruder out of the house.

The woman and baby were treated at a hospital for effects of the pepper spray. The family says they've recovered from the chemical.

The attacker hasn't been caught.
