Help foster kids and get cool stuff at the same time at “Bids for Kids,” an event April 9 in Oklahoma City.

Bids for Kids, sponsored by Citizens Caring for Children, will feature live and silent auctions that include sports memorabilia signed by Thunder star Kevin Durant, trips, original artwork, jewelry and more. Proceeds benefit foster children in Oklahoma.

The event will be from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Will Rogers Theatre, 4322 N Western. It will also feature dinner and music by Born in November.

Citizens Caring for Children provides services for more than 3,500 Oklahoma foster children each year. More than 2,500 children are in foster care in the Oklahoma City metro area.

Citizens Caring for Children sponsors programs including “shelter birthday parties,” Back to School, the Resource Center, Santa Stop and mentoring, all aimed at preventing abuse and neglect of Oklahoma foster children. The organization has launched a new program, “It's in the Bag,” which provides children in foster care a duffel bag with items they need. Most children removed from homes have little clothing or other supplies, the group said.
