Big 12 baseball players take stab at Oklahoma pop culture

BY MIKE BALDWIN Staff Writer Published: May 26, 2011

Turns out the men aren't much better at Oklahoma pop culture trivia than the women.

In recent years, The Oklahoman has asked Oklahoma questions to Women's College World Series players. If they don't know the answer, they're required to guess.

This year, Big 12 baseball players were asked to identify certain sports and cultural figures in Oklahoma. Not knowing Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett or governor Mary Fallin is understandable. With no ESPN highlights, Thunder general manager Sam Presti isn't a household name.

Most whiffed on incoming OSU basketball star LeBryan Nash and OU running back Roy Finch.

Nearly everyone knew Oklahoma legend Will Rogers. It was surprising only one — Sooner third baseman Garrett Buechele — knew OU men's basketball coach Lon Kruger.

The one person almost everyone identified was OSU wide receiver Just Blackmon, the Biletnikoff winner.
