Big 12 basketball: OSU coach Travis Ford knew OU was capable of beating Cowboys

“They've done a great job,” Ford said. “All five starters are back from last year's team, and three of them aren't even starting … you've got an opportunity to have some experience when you need it, kind of like against us.

“I like their team. It's not a surprise to me at all. Anytime you return five starters in the Big 12, or any league, you have really good players, I think you expect it to be this good.”

BACK WITH DREW

Last April, news broke that Baylor self-imposed sanctions for impermissible phone calls and text messages. Part of the sanctions included that men's basketball coach Scott Drew would not be able to coach Baylor's first two conference games.

The Bears went 2-0 without Drew at the helm. He talked Monday about those two games.

“I'm very pleased,” Drew said about the conference play. “It starts with Pierre Jackson. He's doing a good job of playing with pressure and getting everyone excited. Defensively, we're playing much better as a team and much more solidly.”

Drew also talked a little bit about coming back to a team that's been strong in its conference play.

“Every head coach is only as good as his staff,” Drew said. “I'm glad everyone got to see how good our staff is.”
