Oklahoma teams captured five major awards on the coaches' All-Big 12 Conference team that was announced by the league office Tuesday.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was named coach of the year for the fourth time, sharing the honor with Texas Tech's Mike Leach.

OU quarterback Sam Bradford was named offensive player of the year, marking the fourth time a Sooner quarterback has won the award, and Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant was selected as the conference's top special teams player.

Sooner linebacker Travis Lewis was named defensive freshman of the year. And OU senior center Jon Cooper was picked as the offensive lineman of the year, though oddly, he was not voted to the first-team offensive line.

OU has won 23 major awards in the 13-year history of the Big 12, most by any school.

The Sooners had nine first-team selections — more than any other team — and six second-teamers, along with three who earned honorable mention.

Oklahoma State had four first-team selections, including Bryant both as a receiver and returner. The Cowboys had three second-team picks and five players who received honorable mention.

Just as ridiculous is that Matt Fodge is a Ray Guy Award finalist, but is second team All Big 12 punter. And Stoops is the Coach of the Year? I don't think so personally. He did what with the talent he had; more or less what everyone expected? Leach deserves it or it should have gone to Gundy, who was picked to go 7-5 or 6-6. Even Bo Pelini did a better coaching job than Stoops did. Stoops did exactly what he should done with the talent that he has recruited. That doesn't deserve recgnition.

How is it even possible to win lineman of the year and not be on the first team? I am racking my brain and I still cannot come up with a suitable answer.

Oklahoma scores so quickly that offenses on opposing teams get back on the field more quickly. The other side does not get to cool down and get their "do overs," which equates to more opponent points. How many 80 yard, 100 second drives has Oklahoma had? This also equates to OU getting the ball back on takeaways. Against A&M and Nebraska OU had at least 65 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. OU appeared to have a mid-season glitch in its running where it "only" averaged 41 points per game. Now, Oklahoma has two (2) thousand yard rushers once Chris Brown gets 12 yards since DeMarco Murray's dislocated kneecap seems to be good to go. Sam Bradford, the Big XII Offensive Player of the Year according to conference coaches, has passed for over 4,000 yards and 46 TDs with only 6 interceptions with 2 glitch games with two interceptions against Big East champion Cincinnati and in the fluke loss to UT, which is this year’s K-State/A&M/OSU upset loss to a lesser team.

Here's the big joke: Jon Cooper wins offensive lineman of the year, yet he's on the SECOND team offense. lmfao

What a joke, Brandon Pettigrew did not even get an honorable mention.
