The Big 12 hasn't placed two teams in the BCS since the 2008 season. And the conference's off-the-radar season in 2013 didn't figure to change things.
But as we arrive on the doorstep of Selection Sunday, both Baylor (10-1) and OU (9-2) are at least in the running for an at-large berth.
If Baylor beats Texas, or OU beats OSU, they would join the hopefuls of Clemson, an SEC team, Oregon and the Michigan State-Ohio State loser for the three or four available berths, depending on if Northern Illinois wins the Mid-American title game Friday night. With a victory, NIU would gain one of the berths.
It's a longshot, but an 11-1 Baylor would be attractive to a bowl wanting offense, and a 10-2 Oklahoma would be attractive to a bowl seeking a name brand.
Let's be optimistic and say the Big 12 squeezes a second team into the BCS.
