A couple of weeks ago, I made my bowl selections and picked Oregon to rout Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

Then Mack Brown resigned. And it made me think.

Bowl games often are about emotion. Mack Brown is nothing if not emotional.

His Longhorns are sorry to see him go. They will rally around him in San Antonio. They will want to send him out a winner.

Meanwhile, Oregon not so long ago thought it was Pasadena-bound. If not for the national championship Big Bowl, at least for the Rose Bowl as Pac-12 champion.

But the Ducks lost not just to Stanford, but were routed at Arizona, then were scared at home before surviving Oregon State 36-35.

Something is amiss in Eugene. Something soon will be missing in Austin, and that's Mack Brown. I say the Longhorns send him out a winner. Let's go with Texas in the upset.
