Texas Tech is one of the nation's surprise teams, with a 4-0 record and a No. 20 national ranking, although such status could be completely premature.
The Red Raiders have yet to leave the state of Texas and have left Lubbock only once, for a season-opening game at SMU.
Now Tech goes to Kansas, which is mostly dreadful. But Charlie Weis took a dreadful Kansas team to Lubbock last season and went double overtime with a decent Tech team.
Tech is winning with defense; at least it beat TCU with defense. True freshman non-scholarship quarterback Baker Mayfield is a great story, but he's feasted on inferior foes. Mayfield completed just 53 percent of his throws against TCU, with three interceptions.
Yes, Kansas is an inferior foe and is a 14 1/2-point underdog. But Weis had his guys ready for Tech a year ago. Let's go with the Jayhawks in the upset.
