Coaches weigh in on Snyder’s return

Some coaches were surprised, others were not surprised to see Bill Snyder return to coaching:

Bob Stoops: "I thought maybe it was time when he did (retire). I am a little surprised.” A second later, "I’m not (surprised). ... I’ve always been a big fan of his. He’s always had a strong influence on my career, for sure. I’m happy for him if that’s what he wants to do. He’s always done a great job.”

Gary Pinkel: "I have great respect for Bill Snyder, but I told some of my staff if I do that when I’m 69, I hope someone comes and takes me out. Everybody is different. Look at coach (Joe) Paterno. Everybody has to do what they have to do. I know he’s a great football coach.”

Mack Brown: "I’m not surprised. Every time I’ve seen Bill, he’s missing coaching and missing those kids and missing the excitement of the games. I’m really, really excited to see him back. He’s one of the best. To do what he did at Kansas State is just unbelievable. I’m getting to be one of the oldest ones in the league. Now I’ll have someone as old as I am to talk to at the Big 12 coaches meetings.”

There are mixed viewpoints on which team Texas fans should root for Saturday night in Stillwater.
