First, coach Kim Mulkey led Baylor to a Big 12 women’s tournament title.

Then, as she’s done all week, lobbied for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

“All I know is what more can we do?” Mulkey said after the game. “If we’re the No. 1 RPI conference in America, then why can’t we have two No. 1 seeds?

Oklahoma will almost surely carry a No. 1 seed when the selection committee announces the bracket Monday evening.

Sunday, the Lady Bears (27-5) made a strong case for one, as well, by defeating Texas A&M 72-63 at the Cox Center to win the school’s second Big 12 tournament championship.

Jhasmin Player scored a season-high 25 points, including 19 in the second half, and Morghan Medlock sparked the Lady Bears with 15 points off the bench as Baylor beat the Aggies for the third time this season.

Jessica Morrow, named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, added 12 points.

“Everybody on our team came with a winning mentality and everybody was thinking score,” Morrow said. “We hit some great shots.”

Yet early on, Baylor struggled with its shooting as the Aggies led 17-7 following a 10-0 run.
