Big 12 women's basketball notebook: Sherri Coale not worried about short turnaround

After a physically and emotionally draining victory against West Virginia, Oklahoma has several factors working against them as it preps for a short turnaround before playing Iowa State Sunday afternoon in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals.

Eight scholarship players. Late-night game. Springing forward for Daylight Savings time and losing an hour of sleep.
 
But coach Sherri Coale isn’t worried about her team being fatigued.
 
“In 2004, we played four games to win the Big 12 Championship in Dallas, and that was not the most impressive part,” she said. “The most impressive part was every single one of those kids danced on the bus from Norman to Dallas.
 
“So, seriously, like, they are tired? Are you kidding me? It’s important. They will be ready to play.”  
 
TONI YOUNG CONTENT TO REBOUND
 
With no Texas Tech starter standing taller than 6-foot, Saturday’s Big 12 quarterfinal matchup became a prime opportunity for Oklahoma State’s Toni Young to utilize her leaping ability.
 
Young grabbed 18 rebounds in the Cowgirls’ 59-54 win, tying her second-highest total this season.
