Oklahoma State opens the Big 12 Women’s Tournament on Saturday morning against Iowa State, which beat the Cowgirls with relative ease Feb. 26 in Stillwater.

“The girls are ready to play, especially after the loss at home to Iowa State,” said OSU senior guard Tiffany Bias. “We’re ready to get back on the court and play them again.”

OSU beat the Cyclones 69-62 in Ames, Iowa, on Jan. 11.

In the game last month in Stillwater, ISU made 15 of 36 3-point attempts and shot 52.7 percent from the field.

“When we played at Iowa State, we did a great job guarding the 3-line,” said OSU coach Jim Littell. “When we came back home, we didn’t do as well. … They thrive on shooting the 3-ball and we’ve got to do a good job of defending that.”

The first Big 12 Tournament game went into overtime, with Kansas beating in-state rival Kansas State 87-84. It was the sixth overtime game in the tournament’s history, and Kansas State has now been part of four of them.

The Wildcats won in 1998 against Baylor, but have lost every Big 12 Tournament overtime appearances since (2006 to Baylor, 2008 to Iowa State and 2014 to Kansas).

It was the first time in Big 12 Tournament history that the opening game went into overtime.
