TapWerks Ale House, the bar that brings you the IPA Day and International Stout Day celebrations each year, is ramping up for 2013′s version of Stout Day — and big things are planned.
Bar general manager Greg Powell confirms that several special offerings will be available at the Friday, Nov. 8 event.
First will be the public unveiling of the latest offering from Roughtail Brewing Co.: Polar Night Stout. The beer is based off brewmaster Tony Tielli’s American stout recipe that claimed Best-of-Show honors at the 2011 Bluebonnet Brew Off in Texas. Tielli said the beer is “firmly bitter with citrusy American hops throughout, dry-hopped aggressively.”
Next up will be a pin of Marshall’s newest beer, Black Dolphin Stout. Marshall sales and marketing director Wes Alexander had this to say about BDS: “Black Dolphin Stout is named for the world’s most severe maximum-security prison, located in Russia. BDS is a whiskey-barrel-aged Russian imperial stout with an ominous beginning. The government shutdown has delayed the process for approving the label. Not to worry though, Black Dolphin awaits its 22 oz. debut once the label is approved. BDS has been available at a few beer festivals, most notably, the McNellie’s Harvest Beer Festival, but only a non-barrel-aged version. International Stout Day will feature a pin of whiskey-and-oak-infused Black Dolphin Stout.”

-From COOP Ale Works, a pin of Belgian imperial stout aged on cognac-soaked French oak, and a firkin of Car Bomb Stout.
-From Bricktown Brewery, cream stout.
-Undetermined-as-of-yet firkins from Choc Beer Co. and Tallgrass Brewing Co.
Sounds like a fairly insane lineup, if I do say so.
