A bill that would have made it legal to carry a concealed handgun without a permit was defeated by a single vote Tuesday in the Maine House of Representatives, according to the BangorDailyNews.com.



The site reports the 74-73 vote in opposition to the bill came after about an hour floor debate.

The bill would have allowed anyone not prohibited from possessing a firearm to carry one concealed, according to BangorDailyNews.com.
