LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Eddie Posavec hit an RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning to lead Binghamton to an 8-7 victory over top-seeded Stony Brook on Sunday in the longest championship game in America East tournament history.

It is the second straight conference title and third in the last six years for the Bearcats (25-25), who advanced to the NCAA tournament. Binghamton became the second team in conference history to win four straight elimination games and the first to do it by beating the tournament's top seed in consecutive games.

Anthony Grillini allowed four hits over 5 2-3 shutout innings of relief for Binghamton, which trailed 7-4 before scoring a run in the seventh and tying it in the eighth on Reed Gamache's two-run single.

Cameron Stone allowed three runs in 5 1-3 relief innings in the loss for Stony Brook (35-17).
