"We travel all over lakes and creeks and Red River,” Skipper Bivins said. "We've had a really good year this year. We hit it just right. The big flats came in just in time.”

Bivins said the big flatheads were noodled "in or near abouts” the Red River.

"I've been noodling my whole life,” he said. "It's a family tradition. My grandfather noodled. My dad noodled. He taught us and I'm teaching my kids.”

The Bivins brothers also had the biggest three-fish stringer of 173 pounds and won an additional $300.

Tony Norton of Elmore City won the top stringer for scuba divers who noodle with a total weight of 158.8 pounds.

Of the 140 entries, only 29 noodlers checked in fish.

"That's a testament of how hard this is to do," said Bradley Beesley, tournament director.

An estimated crowd of 2,000 to 3,000 attended the weigh-in at Bob's Pig Shop.
