Black Mesa to introduce first bottled offering

Nick Trougakos Published: September 19, 2013

I reported last week that Black Mesa had returned to the brewing game by using the facilities at O’Fallon Brewery in Missouri.

Now it looks like Black Mesa is putting that arrangement to good use by producing its first bottled offering:

Black Mesa Double ESB checks in at 9.6% ABV and pays tribute to the recovery in Oklahoma following May’s storms and tornadoes — the May 31 storm temporarily knocked Black Mesa out of business when it destroyed the OKCity Brewing Cooperative.

The label includes this description:

“A toast to Shawnee, Moore, El Reno, and Oklahoma City, a time to rally. To the tornadoes that gave us a time to rally, a beer rated EF-U.”

Classic.

I’m working on getting a little more information about the beer and when it will be available in stores.

Daily Pints

-Plenty of other beer news going on this week. Tonight is the monthly third-Thursday COOP Ale Works pint night at TapWerks Ale House. Tonight’s offering is a single-hop IPA featuring Mosaic.

-McNellie’s OKC is hosting a collaboration firkin at 6 p.m. Friday featuring the work of Roughtail Brewing and Angry Scotsman Brewing Supply. It will be cask-conditioned black IPA.

-Both McNellie’s OKC and McNellie’s Tulsa are hosting fall fests on Saturday. McNellie’s OKC’s second annual Oktoberfest Block Party kicks off at noon. McNellie’s Tulsa’s Harvest Beer Festival also starts at noon. Tickets for the Tulsa event are available online at ticketstorm.com or at Tulsa’s two McNellie’s locations.
