Allowing blade signs is a significant change for Edmond. But the more-than-two-year city council sign debate goes on.

Council members are still considering whether to permit electronic message signs in the city.

Electronic messaging signs currently are not allowed in Edmond without getting special permission from the city council. Only two electronic signs that display fuel prices have been recently approved.

Former Mayor Saundra Naifeh strongly opposes electronic signs in Edmond. She called the electronic signs advertising and not a method to show people where to find a business, making them a salesman's paradise.

“Edmond has taken a stand on signs,” Naifeh said. “We set a standard in Edmond.”
