Oklahoma senior tight end Blake Bell, a Wichita, Kan., native, appeared at Thursday’s Sooner Caravan event in his hometown, and said in an interview that his sprained knee is “strong as ever.”

“I’ve been back,” Bell said. “I’m just kinda taking it a little slower right now. I’ve been actually out there doing rehab and starting workouts and stuff. I can’t wait to get out there and start playing again, too.”

Bell, who started eight games at quarterback last season, switched to tight end in the offseason after Trevor Knight secured the position with his Sugar Bowl MVP performance against Alabama.

Bell suffered the sprained knee late in spring practices and wasn’t able to play in April’s spring game.

“This was our first day, so he’s still going through some tests, but he will be practicing,” Hill said.

Cousins was struck by an errant bullet in his hometown of Mount Vernon, N.Y., on May 27, when he was walking with a group of friends to another friend’s house and was caught up in a shooting involving two gangs.
