Oklahoma quarterback-turned-tight end Blake Bell will be honored at the 30th annual National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner at the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame on June 5.

Bell will be one of eight collegiate football players from the state honored as NFF Jim Thorpe Oklahoma College Players of the Year.

Last year’s OU honoree was Gabe Ikard.

Bell, a senior, started eight games at quarterback last season, including helping OU to a win at Notre Dame and leading the game-winning drive against Oklahoma State.

After Trevor Knight‘s performance in the Sugar Bowl, Bell moved to tight end. He suffered a knee injury near the end of spring practices and missed the spring game but is expected to be ready to resume activity in time for summer workouts.

Bell has twice been named All-Academic Big 12 First Team and was the 2012 Insight Bowl Offensive MVP.
