NORMAN — Oklahoma basketball player Blake Griffin was ticketed by Norman police late last week for "outraging public decency.”

The offense: urinating on bushes in a parking lot near the edge of the OU campus at 701 College Avenue.

Police officer Barry Grippen, who was on foot patrol, said he found Griffin urinating on the bushes shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday.

In the report, the officer said Griffin told him he was waiting for a friend and couldn't leave the area to find a bathroom. The officer also reported that Griffin, 19, was initially uncooperative, but then began cooperating and was released.

Section 15-411 of the Norman Municipal Code states that outraging public decency as "an act ... including, but not limited to, urinating or defecating” in public

Griffin led the Sooners with 14.7 points and 9.1 rebounds as a true freshman a year ago. He returned to OU even after being projected as a high pick in the NBA Draft. Some have pegged Griffin as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 Draft.
