But Griffin assures his camp will be about business and “a lot of learning.”
“It's not going to be one of those camps that are kind of for baby-sitting purposes,” Griffin said. “It's actually going to be a pretty competitive camp. But at the same time, kids are going to have fun and play games and all that. But we want to do some stuff where the kids actually take something away at the end of the week.”
Griffin will be assisted by trainers and instructors from Impact Basketball, a renowned training company that specializes in improving athleticism, strength and basketball skills of professionals and student-athletes. But Griffin says a few of his friends and teammates from college and the NBA might drop by as well.
“I'm going to have several guest speakers, some NBA guys and even some former NBA guys. So it'll be some good guys coming through throughout the week,” Griffin said.
Griffin said he has wanted to host a camp in the area for the last few summers but never could work out the logistics.
“To finally be able to get in and get it going, I'm looking forward to it,” Griffin said. “It's the first one, and I hope to keep doing it for many years.”
