OK, I wasn’t going to report on this at all, but after seeing so many Oklahoma and entertainment news organizations posting hysterical and misleading headlines and stories about it, I feel compelled to report that Oklahoma country music superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have bought a home in Nashville, where they spend a lot of time working on music and other trappings of maintaining a country music career.
But Lambert made it clear in the exclusive interview where she confirmed the news that they plan to continue to live in Oklahoma full time. After all, it’s Shelton’s home state, and their home base in the southern part of the state is close to both their families. And furthermore, Lambert has businesses in both their home base of Tishomingo and her hometown of Lindale, Texas.
So it’s not like they’ve bought a huge Nashville house (which they can surely afford considering their success and how hard they’ve worked for it), and plan to leave Oklahoma never to be heard from again, despite what some of the headlines may say. So everyone bring it down a notch.
In an exclusive interview with Taste of Country’s Sam Alex, country music superstar Miranda Lambert confirms that she and her equally famous husband, Oklahoma native Blake Shelton, have purchased a house in Music City.
The power couple are Oklahoma residents, and the “Automatic” singer tells Sam Alex that they still plan to live here in the Sooner State full time. Shelton and Lambert live and own land in the Tishomingo area, and Lambert owns a shop called the Pink Pistol in town that has become quite a tourist attraction.
However, Lambert tells Alex it made the most sense to buy something permanent in Music City, considering how much time they spend in the country music capital.
“We just bought a house here in Nashville, outside of town,” the Grammy-winning Texas native tells Alex. “We had a condo for awhile, but we wanted to like, kinda put roots down, because we’re always going to be in Nashville.”
But Lambert and Shelton may not get to spend much time in Nashville. With Shelton’s coaching duties on NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ the pair spends a lot of their time in Los Angeles, as well.
“We live in Oklahoma full time, but we of course lease a place in L.A. when Blake’s working on ‘The Voice,’” Lambert says, adding that she enjoys her time in the southern California sunshine. “When we leave Oklahoma, we’re leaving 20 degree weather and it’s snowing and sleeting, and we get to L.A. and it’s sunny and 75, and I’m just like … ‘Oh, thank goodness.’”
Lambert tells Alex she is thrilled to have a place in Nashville and hints that owning a home there means that neither she or Shelton are planning to take a break from music anytime soon.
“We’re excited about it because we’re here all the time and we’ll always be here recording records and having something to do in Nashville,” she says.
