Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, OneRepublic, Brad Pitt nominated for People's Choice Awards

Today, the People’s Choice Awards announced this year’s hosts of their 40th anniversary ceremony, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs from the CBS comedy “2 Broke Girls.” The actors were in attendance at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills for the announcement and to help present the nominees for the 40th Annual People’s Choic Awards, with Rachel Bilson (“Heart of Dixie”), Ciara (Epic Recording Artist), Darren Criss (“Glee”), Allison Janney (“Mom”) and executive producer Mark Burnett.

“Kat and Beth are great additions to our People’s Choice family and we are excited to have them host the show,” said Mark Burnett, the People’s Choice Awards executive producer for the fifth consecutive year, in a news release. “Their energy and charisma are a perfect fit for our audience.”

Voting opens today for all 58 categories and will close at 10:59 p.m. Dec. 5.

Nominees with Oklahoma ties:

Tishomingo resident Blake Shelton is nominated for Favorite Male Artist, alongside Avicii, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Michael Bublé. He is nominated for Favorite Album for his 2013 release “Based on a True Story …” and the Ada native got a nod for Favorite Country Artist. “The Voice,” on which Shelton stars as a celebrity coach, is nominated for Favorite Competition TV Show.

Checotah native Carrie Underwood also got a nomination in the Favorite Country Artist category.

Toby Keith, who was born in Clinton, raised in Moore and lives in Norman, is nominated for Favorite Country Music Icon.

OneRepublic, which includes Tulsa-born frontman Ryan Tedder, got a nod for Favorite Band. Also, Shawnee-born Brad Pitt is nominated for Favorite Action Movie Star for his role in the summer zombie hit “World War Z.”

Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of the 40th Annual People’s Choice Awards from Nokia Theater L.A. Live from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 on the CBS Television Network.

How to Vote for the 40th Annual People’s Choice Awards:

Website – houses the main voting platform for the People’s Choice Awards.

Facebook – features a custom application where fans can personalize their voting experience and share their votes with friends.

Twitter – Fans can cast official votes for the People’s Choice Awards by tweeting a specific series of hashtags based on the nominee’s name and category. The complete list of hashtags created for each nominee is available at

Mobile – Fans can vote in all categories on the People’s Choice Awards mobile site, and via the official voting application, People’s Choice Awards, for Android and iOS devices. The free app is available for download from Google Play and the Mac App Store.
