Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood nominated for American Music Awards, airing Sunday night

Oklahoma country music superstars Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are among the nominees for the 2013 American Music Awards.

Hosted by Pitbull, this year’s show will be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday on ABC.

Shelton, who lives in Tishomingo, is nominated for Favorite Male Artist – Country, while his wife Lambert and Checotah native Underwood are competing in the Favorite Female Artist – Country category.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year with six nominations. Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake follow with five nominations each, while Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna and Robin Thicke collect four  nominations each. Additionally, Bruno Mars and Imagine Dragons were nominated for three awards.t

The 2013 Artist of the Year nominees are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Justin Timberlake.

Artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year, and for the first year-ever, Single of the Year.

Preceding the ABC broadcast for the 5th consecutive year is the Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live ! pre-show, hosted by Lance Bass, Rosie Pierri, Jordin Sparks and Jenna Ushkowitz. This year’s performers include Kurt Hugo Schneider, Jabbawockeez, Jessie McCartney and 5th Harmony. Live coverage will stream online for fans worldwide starting at 4 p.m. Sunday and, for the first time, will be available on Yahoo.com, this year’s official digital distributor of the American Music Awards Experience. The stream can also be watched at TheAMAs.com, ABC.com, Time Warner Cable’s Facebook page, and the websites within the Cumulus Radio Network, the AMAs official radio partner.

American Music Awards are voted on by the fans. For the seventh year in a row, winners will be determined by online voting. Voting has closed for all categories except Best New Artist presented by Kohl’s, which ends at 8 p.m. during Sunday’s show. Fans can continue to vote for this category at AMAvote.com or via twitter.com/TheAMAs.

Performers for Sunday’s show include Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Pitbull with Ke$ha, Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar.

This year’s roster of presenters includes a mix of actors, musicians, athletes and reality stars:  2 Chainz, Akon, Jaimie Alexander, Marc Anthony, Kristen Bell, Michael Bolton, Ciara, Chris Daughtry, Fall Out Boy, Nathan Fillion, Daisy Fuentes, Juan Pablo Galavis, Dave Grohl, Jennifer Hudson, Joan Jett, Heidi Klum, Lady Antebellum, Bill Maher, Andrew McCutchen, Maia Mitchell, Kelly Osbourne, Hayden Panettiere, Jeremy Renner, Nicole Richie, Naya Rivera, Emma Roberts, Zoe Saldana, Sarah Silverman, Alicia Silverstone, Taylor Swift, and The Ceremonies as well as “Shark” Tank cast members – Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjave – in addition to some surprise appearances.
