A Blanchard man was put on suicide watch at the Oklahoma County jail after being arrested in his pregnant wife's death, his attorney said Monday.
Justin D. Adams, 25, related that he was stripped of his clothes and had to sleep in his cell naked on a steel bunk without a mattress, attorney Irven Box said.
Adams admitted to jailers to having thoughts of suicide after his wife went missing in December, the attorney said.
A sheriff's spokesman said Adams actually was given a smock to wear and was on suicide watch for his first 48 hours in jail.
Adams now is wearing regular jail clothes and is on mental health observation status, the spokesman, Mark Myers, said. That means the inmate is checked every 15 minutes, Myers said.
Police suspect Justin Adams fatally stabbed Jaymie Adams, 25, who was working as a prostitute. Her body was found Jan. 7 at a dirt bike track in southeast Oklahoma City.
He hasn't been charged.
Oklahoma County Special Judge Russell Hall told him at a video arraignment Monday, “The district attorney will take a look at the police report and type up the charges.”
The judge also told him that bail is denied.
