Oklahoma City may still eventually be home to an American Hockey League franchise, but it won’t be the future home of the Philadelphia Phantoms, Express Sports president Bob Funk Jr. said.

Philadelphia plays in the Wachovia Spectrum, which is being demolished after this season. The original plan was to keep the team nearby while a new arena was built.

But with the struggling economy and the absence of an arena play elsewhere, Philadelphia Flyers president Peter Luuko has said the Phantoms franchise will most likely be sold. Flyers management indicated there is an undisclosed interested buyer.

“We don't have any interest at this point,” Funk said about the Philadelphia team. “We're not looking in that direction. We're still working on our franchise.”

Express Sports, which owns the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League, went through major changes in its front office in November to try to improve its financial situation. Five members were either released or resigned.
