Oklahoma City may still eventually be home to an American Hockey League franchise, but it won’t be the future home of the Philadelphia Phantoms, Express Sports president Bob Funk Jr. said.

Philadelphia plays in the Wachovia Spectrum, which is being demolished after this season. The original plan was to keep the team nearby while a new arena was built.

But with the struggling economy and the absence of an arena play elsewhere, Philadelphia Flyers president Peter Luuko has said the Phantoms franchise will most likely be sold. Flyers management indicated there is an undisclosed interested buyer.

“We don't have any interest at this point,” Funk said about the Philadelphia team. “We're not looking in that direction. We're still working on our franchise.”

Express Sports, which owns the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League, went through major changes in its front office in November to try to improve its financial situation. Five members were either released or resigned.

Almost every business that i have worked for has had me sign a "no compete agreement". I'm almost sure Express would be smart enough to make this part of the "severance package" when Brad resigned. If not, why wouldn't the Thunder basketball team be knocking down Brad's door? Robert, the thought did cross my mind too.

certainly BL wouldn't be working for some AHL owner who might be interested in OKC soley or partnering with Express? Hmmm he certainly knows the market forces and all OKC tangibles....and how an AHL franchise would venture into this OKC market....could it be?

The Stars will buy the Phantoms, and move them to Austin. Edmonton will re activate the dormant team, and Express will run the team from a Management perspective.
