Week 14 State area picks November 30, 2007 | Comment on this article Leave a comment By Robert Przybylo, Jason Kersey and Zach West It’s crunch time for your lovable stooges. The games have dwindled from 20 to 10 here in the stretch run. Jason may have sealed his fate with the Plainview pick. Robert’s riding high with Bixby while Zach is playing it cool while trying to protect his lead. Will... Read More
'Charge'-ing ahead November 25, 2007 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com  Bad and lame pun aside, I feel pretty good. With those state area picks, I’m the dork that likes to add little side comments about each game. With Heritage Hall and Henryetta, I said it would be the 2A game of the year. After attending the game, I think I’m... Read More

Time to eat some crow November 24, 2007 by Brandon Chatmon bchatmon@oklahoman.com When the playoffs began, I went against Guthrie because I didn’t think they could get by Tulsa East Central in the Class 5A semifinals. Now, I’m eating crow.  I couldn’t have been more wrong. Guthrie has dominated opponents all season and that didn’t... Read More

Week 13 State Area Picks... November 22, 2007 By Robert Przybylo, Jason Kersey and Zach West Ahh, yet another week to show how much we (don’t) know. Robert had some crazy picks which has moved him to a tie for last. Zach was nearly untouchable as only a shocking loss by Carl Albert and a sensible Owasso pick kept him from going 15-0. Jason’s just happy... Read More
Second round musings... November 20, 2007 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com Boy oh boy, that McAlester-Carl Albert game this weekend is going to be great. Wait, you mean they BOTH didn’t make it. That’s not a rip on either the Buffs or the Titans, no, that’s a rip on yours truly. Through two rounds, one lowly Stooge’s take on the... Read More
Aikman surprises Henryetta with pregame speech November 17, 2007 By Zach West zwest@oklahoman.com In the midst of one of the best seasons in school history, Henryetta players needed little motivation going into a second-round playoff game against Verdigris on Friday night.  They got some anyways, as school legend and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman... Week 12 State Area Picks... November 16, 2007 By Robert Przybylo, Jason Kersey and Zach West Robert managed to run off a 13-2 record, yet lose the LOCK. Zach has steadied his ship and has taken the lead while Jason’s risk-taking mindset has led to some undesirable results. Read More
Second round road trips November 13, 2007 By Jason Kersey jkersey@oklahoman.com Being in the playoffs can sometimes mean traveling to face teams hundreds of miles away. The longest such trip in the state this week belongs to Velma-Alma, which must travel 349 miles for its Class A second-round game against Texhoma, a panhandle town which borders Texas... Read More
The Northwestern connection November 12, 2007 By Justin Harper, Staff Writer jharper@oklahoman.com As we head into the second week of the playoffs, the 1990 Northwestern Oklahoma State football team continues to impress. Say what? I’ll explain. While the 1990 Rangers’ squad was pretty salty, several folks involved with that team are guiding high school... Read More
Eating crow and other first round thoughts November 11, 2007 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com I’m an idiot who picked Purcell over Tuttle, but I’m the genius that picked Illinois over Ohio State. The Illini are “my boys.” That 2005 basketball team led by Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head is my favorite college team (of any sport) ever. Growing up... Read More
Clinton loss? Fugetaboutit! November 10, 2007 By Matt Patterson mpatterson@oklahoman.com Took in the Kingfisher-Marlow game (scrimmage) Friday night. If Kingfisher had any hangover from their 4 OT loss to Clinton there was no sign of it in their 48-7 drubbing of the Outlaws.  If Kingfisher advances far, it will be because of their defense which held... Plainview sneaks by Newcastle November 10, 2007 By Jason Kersey jkersey@oklahoman.com A score that may have shocked some last night wasn’t an upset, but almost was. Unbeaten Plainview, a team thought by many to have a legitimate shot at the 3A state championship, survived a scare at home from Newcastle, 40-34. The surge by the Racer offense is something... Kersey/Przybylo Point-Counterpoint Class 4A November 08, 2007 By Robert Przybylo and Jason Kersey Class 4A Robert: Fair enough…to 4A we go, to the land of the defense. Am I nuts for looking for any excuse to not go with McGuinness? Jason: I think you have absolutely lost your mind to not pick McGuinness to repeat in 4A. That team hasn’t even been seriously challenged... Read More
Kersey/Przybylo Point-Counterpoint Class 3A November 08, 2007 By Robert Przybylo and Jason Kersey Class 3A Robert: Moving onto 3A, for those that don’t know, give a brief summary of the greatness that is Justin Blackmon at Plainview. Jason: Justin Blackmon is one of the best receivers, not only in Class 3A, but in the state. I would put him a close second only behind... Read More
Kersey/Przybylo Point-Counterpoint Class 6A, MVPs, Coach of the Year November 08, 2007 By Robert Przybylo and Jason Kersey You may know us as The Stooges, but here we’re going to offer “our brilliant insight” on every class. Let’s not waste time. Class 6A Robert: To 6A we go, have you had a chance to see the Union-Jenks documentary on VS yet?? Jason: I haven’t, but I’ve heard... Read More
Kersey/Przybylo Point-Counterpoint Class 5A November 08, 2007 By Robert Przybylo and Jason Kersey Class 5A Robert: And now we get to 5A, oh boy, if I’m nuts about Glenpool, explain yourself about Lawton Mac?? Jason: Lawton MacArthur is a contender every year. The kids are battle tested and know what it takes to win. Not to mention that the Highlanders are undefeated in... Read More
Kersey/Przybylo Point-Counterpoint Class A, 2A November 08, 2007 By Robert Przybylo and Jason Kersey Class A Robert: If you had a freshman teammate die during the season (like at Rush Springs with Justin Barney, RIP), what would be the toughest part about moving on and trying to play the rest of the season?? Jason: Well, first things first, could this happen to me? Kids may... Read More
