Centennial facing uphill climb... October 01, 2008 | Comment on this article Leave a comment By Robert Przybylo Bprzybylo@opubco.com Following a 2-0 start, things have gone downhill for the Centennial Bison. Part of the problem may have been handling success, but a big part is all the injuries the team is going through. Right now, Centennial only has three starting offensive linemen healthy, and the... The Stooges: Week 5 October 01, 2008 Whoop, we got a lead change. Sparked by a strong belief in Star Spencer, Jason has regained the lead. Ray Ray is not too far behind while Boneman, well, he just keeps falling off the pace. While last week, the stooges may have seemed like they were acting as one. This week, there is some division, which means... Read More
When will we know if it will be Norman North or Midwest City? October 01, 2008 For those looking for a definitive answer as to which team is better between Norman North and Midwest City, well, we’ll all know when they play each other. Outside of that, everything is guesswork. And they may not play. The Timberwolves and Bombers are not on each other’s schedules, so it would be a playoff... Read More
Eagles striving to turn things around... September 30, 2008 By Robert Przybylo Bprzybylo@opubco.com SeeWorth Academy is already behind the eight ball most times before it even steps onto the field. It’s not really because of the talent level. It’s more because of the lack of personnel. Talking with head coach Robert Walker, it’s just a two-man job for the Eagles.... Read More
Boneman's Week 4 musings... September 27, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@opubco.com I’m sure we all know the drill by now. I rant and rave about what I thought was cool. Then you rightfully so correct me and find other things. It’s a nice system, so let me know what other gems I missed Friday. - Extremely impressed with Cashion and more... Read More
The Stooges: Week 4 September 24, 2008 Well, well, well, Ray Ray has every reason to smile. What’s he more jazzed about, going 13-1 to climb into first place or having his beloved Cowboys spank Jason’s beloved Packers? All ‘n all, a pretty good week for the Verdigris nut. Jason dropped his first Lock of the year but is still in solid position... Read More
Boneman's Week 3 musings... September 20, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@opubco.com  Whew, take a breath and relax. Quick poll, what was your favorite game from last night? I’d like to lean toward McGuinness and Millwood with a Mike Shanahan-like gamble going for two with 33 seconds for the Irish to get the 25-24 win. But Edmond Memorial winning... Read More
What does Rob Davis do? September 19, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Opubco.com Maybe the better question is what doesn’t Rob Davis do? In talking with the Canton coach for this week’s Friday Night Lights installment, I was amazed at how much he’s already done at 29. While the story introduces you to Davis, a good chunk of quirky info was left... Read More
The Stooges: Week 3... September 18, 2008 Hey hey, welcome back. We’re one week away from districts, but there are plenty of interesting games this week. Last week, well, Jason is running away with an early lead, thanks in large part to his faith in Booker T. Ray Ray got on the board with his LOCK pick and is tied for second. Boneman, more like Bonehead.... Read More
Boneman's Week 2 musings... September 13, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com I got wrapped up in my own little world last week and said it was “Bounce back week.” I was possessed that that’s what this week was. So I’m kinda happy with the way things turned out because for some teams, it really was a bounce back week. - Tulsa Union will... Read More
Hornets should claim top spot September 12, 2008 By Ray Martin rmartin@oklahoman.com I think it’s safe to say Tulsa Washington deserves to take the top spot in the Class 5A poll. The Hornets beat top ranked Tulsa East Central 46-20 tonight, one week after pounding Carl Albert 40-7. That’s impressive. Much more impressive than anything No. 4 Bixby, No. 3... Read More
The Stooges: Week 2... September 11, 2008 It’s with a heavy heart that we return for the predictions. Our condolences go out to the entire Edmond Santa Fe family after the passing of volleyballer Heather Harkness. In Week 1, Jason was given a lot of flack about his Norman pick. But uh, look at the scoreboard. With an 8-2 week AND picking Booker T. to... Read More
Day of Mourning... September 10, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com Taken from my original Bout Blog post. For Bout Blog fans, Heather Harkness is neither a boxer nor an MMA fighter. No, she was an Edmond Santa Fe volleyballer. She died Tuesday morning during the course of an appendectomy. This one hits me a little bit harder. She... Read More
Bounce back week... September 09, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com Week 2 of the football season or as I like to call it, bounce back week. While Tulsa Union and Carl Albert are some of the obvious choices to look at, I’m going the other way. Thursday night I’ll be at Putnam West and Yukon. On paper, doesn’t sound so thrilling.... Boneman's Week 1 musings... September 06, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com Week 1 has come and gone, and we’ve shown what we always show: that we STILL know nothing. Well, in some cases. What’s the bigger shock: Broken Arrow dominating Tulsa Union or Carl Albert being manhandled by Tulsa Washington? If you called both of those games,... Read More
Have at it over the Norman pick September 05, 2008 By Jason Kersey jkersey@oklahoman.com Go ahead and give it to me. I deserve it. Norman over Norman North was a bad pick. A horrible pick. Probably the worst pick I’ve ever made or will ever make. OkieRover, you’re right. And trust me, I’ve gotten it bad from my colleagues at The Oklahoman today. But,... Read More
John Marshall breaks 25-game losing streak September 05, 2008 By Jason Kersey jkersey@oklahoman.com John Marshall beat Northwest, 14-8 on Friday night, snapping a 25-game losing streak for the Bears. Coach Bruce Troxell just called in the score, and said John Marshall held Northwest on a goalline stand at the end of the game to secure the victory. Read More
The Stooges are back... September 03, 2008 It just wouldn’t be a high school football weekend without the return of your “beloved” stooges. Right? Anyway, we’re as thrilled as the next guy that the season is FINALLY here. Should be an interesting one, especially after the district shakeups. We’re ready to dive right in with the top 10 games and... Read More
Bombers make statement (and other scrimmage thoughts)... August 30, 2008 By Robert Przybylo BPrzybylo@Oklahoman.com Well, I saw nine different teams in the last two nights, and one team left an indelible impression on the Boneman. I know it’s only a scrimmage but give me the first seat on the Midwest City bandwagon. I likey a lot what the Bombers did to Norman North at Mustang on... Read More
