  • Report: Trent Williams out for Bedlam

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Just when it seems it can’t get any worse for the Oklahoma Sooners, it does. The word is now that starting left tackle Trent Williams could be held out of Saturday’s game with Oklahoma State due to some kind of head injury he suffered in practice this week. KFOR-TV reported tonight that...

  • Texas Tech 41, OU 13: Thoughts and observations

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

The biggest surprise from OU’s 41-13 head-kicking courtesy of Texas Tech was not the offense struggling. The offense struggles on the road. It’s what they do. The surprise was Tech basically moving the ball at will against OU’s previously vaunted defense. And how did Tech move the ball?...

  • OU appears Sun Bowl bound

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Win or lose at Bedlam this weekend, Oklahoma’s most likely bowl destination appears to be the Sun Bowl. If Oklahoma State wins Bedlam: The Cowboys would go to the Fiesta. That would leave the Cotton to choose from Nebraska, Texas Tech and Missouri. Except that Tech went there last year, and...

  • Stoops: ‘Who knows what’s in store?’

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops did a Q&A with Rivals.com writer Tom Dienhart, and if you haven’t checked it out, you should. Stoops is more frank than his usual self, and he touches on, among other things, the Sooners’ injury-plagued season, Landry Jones and possibly leaving Oklahoma in the...

  • Murray: ‘Pretty sure I’ll be back’

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

When DeMarco Murray dazzled fans in the spring game before his freshman season, plenty in attendance wondered how long they’d get to watch the Las Vegas native run over and around opposing defenders. Injuries have kept Murray from playing in several of the Sooners’ biggest games since,...

  • Watch Patrick O’Hara’s homemade place-kicking video

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

As I wrote today, OU’s newest kicker, Patrick O’Hara, made a home video, which caught the eye of the Sooner coaching staff while O’Hara was a freshman student at Washburn University.

  • Stoops interested in Notre Dame?

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Every year, it seems, Bob Stoops is connected to another job. Last winter, that job was the Denver Broncos, who were reportedly interested in Stoops to replace Mike Shanahan. But quickly, that fizzled and Denver hired New England Patriots offensive co-coordinator Josh McDaniels. This year,...

  • "Fashion for Passion" style show in Norman

Linda Miller | Updated: Wed, May 15, 2013

Attend a fashion show and help raise money for Children’s Miracle Network. Sounds like a win-win to me. “Passion for Fashion,” a style show featuring clothing from area retailers, will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Ballroom in the OU Student Union. The show is being put together...

  • OU 65, Texas A&M 10: Thoughts and observations

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

OU continued its domination at home, running Texas A&M out of town with a 65-10 head-kicking. The question, however, is can the Sooners finally carry that over to a road venue. They get their last chance next weekend against Texas Tech in Lubbock, a place the Sooners have lost two straight....

  • Be brave -- don't shout "Sooners"

John Rohde | Published: Fri, Nov 13, 2009

Today’s Oklahoman addressed University of Oklahoma sports fans who choose to shout “home of the Sooners” rather than “home of the brave” at the end of the pregame national anthem. I had no idea this was such a touchy topic. I considered it an overreaction, nothing more than an...

  • More on Jeff Capel

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Lots of leftovers from today’s story about Jeff Capel. Capel said his most important job is getting his players to believe in him and trust him, but I was struck by just how much that’s the case within his program. From Willie Warren, on why he came to OU: “You get a chance to play...

  • New OU Nike unis leaked

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

As first reported by The Oklahoman, OU will don Nike combat uniforms for its game at Texas Tech in two weeks. Apparently, someone found out what those uniforms will look like and leaked them onto the Internet.

  • Injury update: Eldridge, English

Jake Trotter | Updated: Thu, Apr 18, 2013

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Monday morning that guard Brody Eldridge will miss Saturday’s game with Texas A&M with a shoulder injury. Defensive end Auston English could also be held out due to an ankle injury, but Stoops noted the training staff is still “unsure” about English’s...
