Best of Bob: My Twitter timeline from Stoops presser
August 30, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — Filing a compilation of my tweets from Bob Stoops‘ pre-Tulsa presser. The head man went long today, a half-hour or so, but a lot of that was a preramble that included a position-by-position breakdown. (Designed to eliminate some questions later – Phillip Fulmer used to do that at...

A few surprises on revised depth chart
August 29, 2011
There were a few surprises when OU coaches finally updated their depth chart on Monday.
You can’t read too much into depth charts. Sometimes coaches use it to motivate players that have been inconsistent. But coach Bob Stoops isn’t one to play many mind games.
Observations after seeing the revised depth...

What’s Stills’ status for opener?
August 29, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — People have wondered all summer whether receiver Kenny Stills‘ January DUI arrest would cost him part or all of Saturday’s opener against Tulsa.
We’re still wondering, though that will become clear in the following days – and, well, certainly by Saturday.
Stills seemed to indicate this...

Updating this, OU has sent out the helmet decal it will use to honor Box. Classy.
CAMPUS CORNER –In addition to quarterback Landry Jones, it sounds as if Austin Box‘s No. 12 will also be worn by an OU defender.
The SID just said the team’s defense will rotate wearing the 12 jersey from week to week. Kenny...

Heating up the leftovers: OU mailbag
August 26, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — Enjoyed my first NewsOK chat earlier today. Had several leftover questions and didn’t want to ignore you all. I’m far from a master on the subject of OU football, but, hey, I’ve only been here a week and haven’t seen a game or practice.
Terry: Have you been to an OU-Texas game?...

August 25, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — In addition to teams, Bodog also dropped some tasty prop bets for individual accolades in the Big 12.
I’ll present the odds and then my thought …
Passing yards/game
Landry Jones, OU – 1-3
Brandon Weeden, OSU – 7-4
Robert Griffin, Baylor – 15-2
(Thought: Can’t...

Hughes turning heads at BC
August 25, 2011
Hampton Hughes, son of former OU and Dallas Cowboys star defensive back, Randy Hughes, has experienced a strange two-a-days at Boston College but might wind up in the starting lineup. At a completely new position.
A preferred walk-on in his fourth season, Hughes began fall camp at wide receiver. He was moved to...

CAMPUS CORNER — Haven’t seen too, too many headlines about him this week in Big 12 country, but I’m curious what Oregon transfer Lache Seastrunk’s impact will be at Baylor after he sits out his required time for swapping schools.

Brace yourselves, Aggies
August 24, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — My friend at the Gainesville Sun, longtime Gators writer and columnist Pat Dooley, has presupposed that Texas A&M will join the SEC in this column.
What, then, do the Aggies have to look forward to with that transition? Much has changed since the league last extended invites, to...

Taking the campus tour
August 23, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — Much appreciation today to my Norman/OU tour guides, SIDs David Bassity and Kenny Mossman.
Some impressions of campus, besides the obvious “it’s hot” sentiment. (It is, but this native Southerner is used to it. That doesn’t mean, however, that I’m not ready for it to go away.)...

Wins, glare do not begin to define Summitt
August 23, 2011
CAMPUS CORNER — I made a joke yesterday about Bob Stoops‘ glare at reporters as they ask questions and he responds.
No offense to Bob, but no one has a steely glare like Pat Summitt. It’s been noted in print over the years, but, trust me, it doesn’t do it justice. Fortunately for us media types,...

Coming from the South, I was admittedly worried...
