My Journey to Bangladesh: Day 1 (The Airport) May 23, 2013 It’s travel day. Five media professionals from OKC, many from University of Oklahoma, left the Oklahoma City airport at a time when our city is left bruised after the Moore tornado. I have been anticipating this media professional exchange to Bangladesh since I heard about it a month ago, but now it’s difficult... Read More

Video of the Day: She & Him, "I Could Have Been Your Girl" May 21, 2013 Well, this is something refreshingly light on a day when we could use it. Zooey Deschanel directed this elaborate attempt to get M. Ward’s attention while he sits in a coffee shop, reading his paper and looking like Jason Sudeikis. She dances, she pets a wooden duck, she smokes a cartoonishly large cigar. Read More

Flaming Lips play "Fallon," Wayne Coyne plays "Pictionary" May 16, 2013 The Flaming Lips appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday and performed multiple duties with implied nudity. Like they do. First, Wayne Coyne and the band played “Try to Explain” from “The Terror,” and then Coyne brought out his baritone for a spot-on cover of David Bowie’s... Read More
Blu-ray Review: "Frankie Go Boom" May 15, 2013 Rating: 45 Ron Perlman and Charlie Hunnam of “Sons of Anarchy” dancing romantically, Chris Noth brandishing guns and a pot-bellied pig, and Lizzy Caplan and Chris O’Dowd doing anything should be more than enough to justify “Frankie Go Boom,” but then writer-director Jordan Roberts oversells every gag... Video of the Day: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., "Dark Water" May 14, 2013 The Detroit duo with absolutely, positively no genetic links to NASCAR royalty go claymation while men in seafood regalia watch over a woman after she was chased through the dark by someone in scuba gear. There is also some old-school film developing going on. No, it doesn’t make a bit of sense, but what a great... Read More
Album Review: Vampire Weekend, "Modern Vampires of the City" May 14, 2013 Rating: 95 The internet trolls saw blood in the Hudson back in 2007, when the first pan-cultural Vampire Weekend sounds trickled out and the images of an immaculately dressed band of Upper West Siders emerged. The commentariat didn’t want to be told what to like, and so Vampire Weekend’s first full album was... Read More
Graham Colton talks about new song, "Born to Raise Hell" May 13, 2013 When he left the majors, Oklahoma City’s Graham Colton started immediately taking chances and making some of the best music of his career, and the things he says in this brief video about his upcoming new song, “Born to Raise Hell,” suggest that Colton is digging deeper. I never expected Colton to write a... Read More
Video of the Day: Har Mar Superstar, "Lady, You Shot Me" May 13, 2013 Oklahoma City’s institutional memory of Har Mar Superstar probably extends only to his arrest for grabbing his crotch and saying a few nasty things onstage while opening for Incubus at the Ford Center in 2002, but Sean Tillmann was never destined to be a mere footnote. I mean, sure, he looks like Ron Jeremy’s... Read More
