Blu-ray review 'Star Trek: Enterprise' — Complete Second Season

In the second season of the “Star Trek” prequel series “Enterprise,” the crew deals with the effects of increasing hostility toward humans. The season begins with Capt. Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) trapped in an altered 31st century after the events of the Season 1 cliffhanger.

This Temporal Cold War echoes throughout the season, with deadly consequences near season's end.

Another favorite episode from Season 2 is “Carbon Creek,” in which the Vulcans' secret first contact with Earth in the 1950s is explored.

For most episodes, the show is set more than 100 years before the adventures of James T. Kirk, as Earth takes its first adventures into the stars. But these humans are more rough-hewed and less diplomatic than later “Trek” officers would become.

Archer is joined by only two aliens: logical Vulcan science officer T'Pol (Jolene Blalock) and quirky ship's doctor Phlox (John Billingsley).
