NORMAN — After beating Texas Tech on Saturday, Oklahoma linebacker Travis Lewis was asked about the prospects of needing two road victories to win the Big 12 South.

Replied Lewis: “It's time to man up or shut up.”

This week, all but five OU players will be shutting up.

Monday afternoon, coach Bob Stoops revealed that only five of his players would be available to speak with the media this week, as the Sooners prepare to go back on the road where they've lost two straight.

OU closes the regular season with back-to-back away games at 7-4 Baylor and 9-1 Oklahoma State.

“Sometimes, there's too many guys talking,” Stoops said. “Just what I decided to do. I don't need to explain it. That's just how we're going to do it.”

Lewis and offensive tackle Eric Mensik spoke with reporters following Monday's practice. Defensive end Jeremy Beal, receiver Ryan Broyles and running back DeMarco Murray will meet with the media today. Quarterback and offensive captain Landry Jones, however, will be off-limits along with the rest of the team.

“He's got enough to do,” Stoops said of Jones, who has thrown five of his seven interceptions in OU's three road games. “He's busy. Got class. He's working. He's got a lot to do. He's only sophomore, there's other times we haven't always had our quarterback available.”
