NORMAN—Sam Bradford’s status is still unchanged, but his top receiver could be back sooner than anticipated.

Sophomore receiver
Ryan Broyles fractured his shoulder blade on the
Sooners’ second play from scrimmage against
Miami, but should only miss two to four weeks, said coach
Bob Stoops.
Stoops originally said Broyles would be out of the lineup four to six weeks, but called the injury a “light fracture” on Monday.
The process for Bradford’s return would remain the same, and the junior
Heisman winner is set to return to practice later today.
“Until you see them progress you don’t know. Until you get out there and work it, you don’t know,” Stoops said. “Everybody keeps asking the same question and the answer is impossible to give.”
The Sooners suffered their second loss of the season against Miami on Saturday, but Stoops shot down the idea that Bradford could sit for the remainder of the season as a result.
“There’s a chance he might get hit by a bus walking over here today. You’re asking me what I don’t know,” Stoops said. “That’s not what I would anticipate, though.”

Couldnt you also reverse that and say that a D1 D-lineman should be able to beat the block of any O lineman? I saw guys getting flat beat by D-lineman who are also big time D1 prospects. This happens when you are thinking about assignments and checks and you cant focus on just beating your man. Once they get those things down, they can play with instinct. Much like a RB is less effective when he is worried about fumbling or getting hurt. Everything is like going through the motions at this point.
Go back and look at the 2005 line everyone. We had 1 veteran and a rotation of role players and newbies. Exactly what we have now, and the line developed, but it wasnt before the UT game.
I am an OU fan, but I am not arrogant enough to think that every player that plays for OU is automatically a top-shelf talent. This aint the 80's boys and girls where talent can be stockpiled. Any team that loses enough stars would be in trouble. Imagine UT without McCoy and Shipley. Lose a guy to injury and maybe have a recruit or two that dont pan out (common tale) and you have a depth issue.
Right now there are only a few proven talents on the team. Brown hasnt had a good year, Broyles is now hurt, and then Murray, and these "bozos" all complain about running the ball and giving the ball to our only playmakers because it isnt "imaginative" enough.
O line is not a place you can just plug and play. They need to develop, and they will. What we have here friends is a rebuilding year. This fact was covered up by the four returning players. The big injuries came and this was compounded because the offensive line and WR corps is just not up to snuff yet.
You wonder why OU fans are at the top of the clown college class because of Brainiacs like you.
#1- They DID play these linemen last year, except of course the freshmen and the sophomore transfer that COULDNT play. The two that could saw significant time. You can only play players that are eligible, and they did. Check your depth chart.
#2- Get your facts straight. OU does not run a "hurry up" offense. It is called a "no-huddle" the point is to get to the line, see how the defense lines up and change the play accordingly. So you spend the time on the clock looking at the defensive alignment instead of talking in the huddle. Peyton Manning runs a no huddle and frequently uses every second of the play clock.
Some people need to learn facts before they try to act like they know something. It is about execution. Playcalling has about 30% to do with offensive success, without execution NO plays will work right. We just dont have the horses to execute. Much like 2005, but we are better at QB and on defense than in '05.
This hurry up offense is a joke also. What is this crap, hurry up to the line, get set, and everyone stand straight up to change the play while their defense can take thier time to line up and match everyone and fill thier slots. Not to mention that while this sideline conference is happening, our line is still in a three point stance, getting tired of squating..they arent too good as it is, they dont need an added fatigue and strain to add to the disaster.
Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma State.. were going to get owned. Kevin Wilson, you need a new job. Youre ruining this team, ruining our reputation, and ruining Big Game Bobs reputation also.
FIRE KEVIN
BOOMER SOONER!!
However, give it time. O lines often take a little while consider what we had last year. Though we complained at times it is safe to say we had a GREAT O line.
NOW go back another few years to 2005; We had one returning senior (Davin Joseph) like this year (Trent Williams), then we had some journeymen in the rotation that were juniors and sophomores. That line could not protect Bomar for anything. They were awful. Now remember that there were three freshmen that played a ton; Duke Robinson, Jon Cooper, and Brandon Braxton. Those three, with Loadholt(JUCO) and Trent Williams anchored last years line.
Just give it some time. All we need is some improvement from those underclassmen and maybe pick up a Juco and it will come together. I do think they have some talent.
