KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) — Bobsled and skeleton athletes competing in the Sochi Olympics are opening unofficial training.

With little emphasis on times, sliders started figuring out the nuances of the track. For the U.S. women's bobsled team, Wednesday's session still carried some importance, since no decisions have been finalized about which drivers will be paired with what push athlete.

U.S. men's bobsled pilot Steven Holcomb says the course is shaped slightly differently to what sliders found at the Sanki Sliding Center in November during an international training week, so that's one adjustment for teams to deal with in the coming days.

Bobsledders return for more unofficial training Thursday. Official training in skeleton starts this weekend.
