Body of drowning victim recovered near Ponca City

The body of a Ponca City man who drowned in the Arkansas River was found Saturday morning, authorities said.

Harry Walter Blueback, 22, went under shortly before 6:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Family members found Blueback's body on a sandbar about 7:15 a.m.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stopped the release of water from the dam to lower the level of the river after Blueback was reported missing.
