JENKS— Authorities have reopened the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa County after the discovery of two unattended suitcases prompted a bomb scare.
Lt. George Brown says the Oklahoma Highway Patrol received a tip at about 4:20 a.m. Monday regarding two suspicious suitcases that were placed in the westbound pay lane at the Jenks toll plaza.
Brown says the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's bomb squad responded to the scene and westbound traffic was rerouted onto city streets.
Brown says X-rays showed that neither suitcase contained explosive or dangerous items. He says the suitcases were taken into custody for further investigation.
Westbound lanes reopened shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.
