Even if you’re not interested in Anne Rice’s vampire stories, her new book, "Angel Time: The Songs of the Seraphim Series, No. 1” (Knopf, $25.95), demonstrates why she is a noted American author.

Rice is able to tell a story with twists and turns that will not lose the reader along the way. This is a fascinating story about a man, Toby O’Dare (aka Lucky the Fox), and an angel, Malchiah. Malchiah helps Toby turn around his horrible life to help him do something very good.

Rice is writing this new series to counteract her popular vampire stories.

Those who loved them should not think she has wimped out by writing a "pious” story. This story is far from that. It is highly recommended.
