Book review: “It's Classified” by Nicolle Wallace

BY PHYLLIS BENNETT | Published: October 9, 2011

Readers of Nicolle Wallace's latest novel, “It's Classified” (Atria Books, $25), can take up where her novel “Eighteen Acres” left off, with the re-election of Charlotte Kramer, America's first female president.

Kramer, a Republican, won handily when she chose as her running mate Democrat Tara Meyers. What should be a dynamic duo in the White House never gets under way as some long-hidden mental health issues interfere with official duties.

Though Vice President Meyers is able to contribute to some important intelligence briefings related to the latest terrorism threat, reporters question her odd behavior — in public and private — and her absences from many official meetings. These eventually lead to accusations of White House misconduct, a Department of Justice investigation and talk of impeachment.
