The grandson of Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens died at a Fort Worth, Texas,hospital Tuesday after the TCU student was driven to the facility in a private vehicle, authorities and TCU officials told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
TCU officials confirmed that Thomas Boone Pickens IV, 21, died Tuesday.
Police are investigating.
A spokesman for Boone Pickens released this statement: “Ty's loss at such a young age is an unspeakable family tragedy for the entire Pickens family and his many friends. We mourn his passing and respectfully request that the family be allowed to grieve in private in this time of sorrow.”
Police investigators were notified of the death by hospital officials.
Police did not identify the victim, but they noted that investigators were told that someone had driven the victim to the hospital from an address north of the TCU campus.
The younger Pickens was a junior at TCU majoring in strategic communication, according to TCU360, the student media website.
