The Sooners won’t get their national-championship rematch with Florida.
But OU could have a chance at avenging one of its other two national-title losses this decade.
Thanks to impressive back-to-back victories over
Kansas and
Kansas State, OU (5-3 overall, 3-1
Big 12) appears on track for either the
Cotton Bowl or
Holiday Bowl.
Win out, and the Cotton is probable. Waiting for the Sooners would likely be the
SEC West’s second-place team. Right now, that team is
LSU, which defeated OU in the 2003 title game.
Go 3-1 the rest of the way, and the Sooners will probably be headed to the Holiday and a showdown with USC. If the Trojans (6-2) don’t get an invite to a
BCS bowl as an at-large, they will almost surely go to the Holiday as the
Pac-10’s second-place finisher.
USC hammered the Sooners in the 2004 national title.

This artical is similar to Jenni Carlson's a couple of weeks ago saying OSU's quarterback could win the Heisman. The Daily Oklahoman makes me laugh.
The O-line still needs work, but they are progressing. I like how they are passing to set up the run now. Seems to be opening things up a little.
Wow, and the penalties have improved. Aside from the obvious hiccup in the KSU game (which they overcame) they have played pretty clean the last couple of games.
Oh yes, and the Brandon Spikes thing... this is the guy that said OU played dirty. Talk about throwing stones in glass houses....
The defense had a major let down Saturday. Not sure what happened but it was not the same guys that went againsT Texas and Kansas. Consistency, consistency, consistency is needed. Good thing the offense showed up in the second half. Another glitch is what happened on kickoff coverage when KSU's Banks went the distance. Hope this was an isolated case.
The Sooners appear to be righting the ship but there are still too many leaks. This week will be test for the offensive line against a very very good Cornhusker defensive line. GO SOONERS!!!
is the success. He's a good coach, but not the coach OU hired 10 season's ago, and it isn't
going to change. The days of Wine and Rose's with Barry are fond memories. Anticipating
a game with a top-10 team, with a good chance to win was exciting. Now, we get Potted
Meat, Crackers and Old Milwaukee and a fear of how much embarrassment Stoops is going
to inflict on the program. OU has no business playing LSU or USC. Stoops has never beaten
Carroll, and Miles proved, while at OSU with underdog teams, Bob was an easy mark. A
blessing would be for USC to lose again and T.T. to keep winning. OU is more of an Alamo,
Gator, Mienke Car Care Bowl team. They can't compete with the upper division teams in
the SEC, Pac-10, ACC. Sorry but it's true. They have proved it. Wake up Sooner Fans and
smell the potted meat. IT'S OVER.....UNLESS?
