Blur ‘Parklive' Deluxe Edition (Virgin)
Guitar-driven Brit-pop darlings Blur had a busy summer in 2012, as evidence by the deluxe four-CD + DVD edition of “Parklive,” which includes the quartet's performance at Hyde Park closing the Olympic Games. The deluxe edition includes the whole show, with extras, presented on two CDs with a DVD of the 12-camera coverage of the raucous event directed by Matthew Amos (Maroon 5, Evanescence). Also included is an exclusive CD “Blur — Live at the 100 Club,” recorded at the famed London venue in August, and an additional CD of live tracks recorded during the this past summer, including “Under the Westway” and “The Puritan,” played live on Twitter from a London rooftop, and recordings from the band's Wolverhampton warm-up show and BBC Radio Maida Vale sessions. This momentous concert document is packaged in a 60-page hardback book containing exclusive photographs from both Hyde Park and the 100 Club.
