MUSKOGEE — A 17-year-old died Sunday after he was struck by a train, police said.
Marco Antonio Torres, of Muskogee, was found dead about 10:45 p.m. Sunday on the railroad tracks just east of S Main Street and Elgin Street, said Muskogee police Cpl. Mike Mahan.
Police think Torres was crawling under the stationary train when it began to move. Initial investigation showed that Torres was struck by a northbound train.
An engineer of a southbound train saw the body on the tracks and notified police.
Witness accounts from people who had been with Torres before he was killed and evidence at the scene indicate alcohol was involved in the accident, Mahan said.
