Boy, 7, handcuffed over $5, family says
The family of a 7-year-old New York City boy has filed a $250 million claim against police and the city after the boy was handcuffed and accused of stealing $5 from a classmate.
The boy’s mother told the New York Post that her son was “interrogated” for 10 hours.
According to the Post, another child told the New York Daily News that the boy approached him and reached into his pocket before striking him in the face.
School officials said the incident occurred off school grounds, according to The Associated Press.
